Volunteer Opportunities

School Ambassador
- Make contact or find contact at their school(s).
- Find schedule of all events we can advertise at (PTA events, Parent's Night). We would like to have a "table" with information, and registration materials.
- Attend a training session for school visits. This session is how to present to students and motivate them to get interested in Engineering/Science and attend Un Sabado.
- Do classroom school visits (this part takes a bit of time, in the past we have dedicated a full day of presentations at each school in their science/math classes).
Student Workshop
There are two main workshops for the students and several sessions for the parents. The student workshops are a hands-on Engineering project. The goal of these workshops are to give the students an insight into engineering.
Workshop Volunteer Roles
- Presenter – Present the students with the details of their project including role and responsibilities of the students, scoring system, and workshop room rules. Presenters will also serve as moderators while students work on completing the project.
- Team Moderator – Supervise teams and answer general questions for the project. Although, they may hint at answers, moderators are not to directly help teams with the project solution. Rather, they are to encourage different perspectives so that the students may then formulate their own solutions.
- Judge – Score each teams performance on the different components of the project. Rubrics will be provided to the judges to enable fair scoring. The winning student team will be one that best showcases originality, teamwork, and application of engineering and science concepts.
Un Sabado Volunteer
- Registration - Assists with registration the day of the event.
- Event Director - With the large number of students attending this program we will need directors who can help with crowd control and information.
- Program Aide - Program Aide which assists the Engineering during the Engineering Fair and the workshops.
